Jamal Bieniemy has many roles for the UTEP basketball team, but the most fundamental, the one so much of a season that starts Tuesday against Western New Mexico hinges on, is to make everyone on the team better.
That’s the way of it for star point guards, that was what was expected of Bieniemy when he transferred in last year after starting at Oklahoma, and that’s going to intensify as the junior starts his second year at UTEP.
Last season his position dictated he needed to be a leader. This year he has a season of experience in the program to go with that and the expectations increase accordingly.
