The Saturday showdown at the Sun Bowl represents the fifth meeting between UTEP and Florida International, two schools two time zones apart, but it's one that fans now can get used to.
For the foreseeable future this will be an annual game between two of the five current Conference USA schools staying in the league, and the start of a yearly procession of trips to the Borderland for FIU, which in years when it isn't playing at UTEP presumably will be playing C-USA newcomer New Mexico State.
UTEP won the first meeting of this series in 2013 while FIU has won the last three.
