For a unit in flux, the UTEP secondary is going down divergent paths as it looks to retool.
The Miners might be replacing 60% of its secondary starters (three of five), or maybe not depending on what direction they go with a corner spot that may be the most competitive starting spot up for grabs.
They are looking all over to do it.
In the mix include a transfer portal player for a team that doesn't use the portal much, two players who came to UTEP as freshmen for a team that doesn't do that much either, and a player who would have been a typical junior college transfer starter a year ago if not for an injury in camp.
