As Kendra Chambers begins the two-and-a-half-year run to the end of her professional track career, she knew it was time to give something back to her native El Paso.
The 31-year-old Hanks graduate, who has competed in the 800 meters in the last two Olympic Trials, has entertained the idea of staging a clinic at her alma mater for five years, with the hope of growing it into a major event.
She and Hanks will take the first step in that direction Friday when the school at 2001 Lee Trevino Drive hosts an afternoon clinic for Knight track athletes, with the goal of expanding it to more of El Paso in the years to come.
