The UTEP women's basketball team may be losing its local star.
Team leader Katia Gallegos, a Franklin grad who has started every game for three years and been all-conference each season, is entering the transfer portal according to various media reports.
She is the third women's player to enter the portal following a disappointing 14-15 season, along with leading scorer Destiny Thurman and reserve center Brenda Fontana.
Gallegos averaged 11.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and a team-leading 3.8 assists this past season while being named second-team All-CUSA. Last season she averaged 13.8 points, 4.
