The Chapin football program will learn from one of UTEP's best football players in school history.
Former Miners quarterback Trevor Vittatoe has been named the quarterback coach for the Class 5A Huskies.
The 6-foot-2 Vittatoe, from Bedford, Texas, played for the Miners from 2007-2010 and was a four-year starter. He threw for 12,439 yards, 97 touchdowns and had 14 games where he threw for 300 yards or more. The 12,439 yards passing and 97 touchdown passes are school records.
"It's a long time coming; coaching is something I wanted to do," Vittatoe said. "I got my teaching certificate and had my interview with coach (Ryan) Warner and it went great.
