Former UTEP basketball star Tim Hardaway nominated to Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame

Former UTEP guard Tim Hardaway is one of 14 finalists for induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame for the Class of 2021.

Hardaway played at UTEP from 1985-89 and was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 1989. Hardaway was a 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist and played 13 years in the NBA.

He scored 15,373 points, averaged more than 20 points a game for four straight seasons currently ranks 18th in NBA history with 7,095 assists.

The native of Chicago was a first round pick in the 1989 NBA Draft and played for Golden State, Miami, Dallas, Denver and Indiana.
