Special teams move forward
UTEP special teams have been all over the board this season, but they were consistently solid against Charlotte and give the Miners some confidence they have turned a corner heading into Saturday’s game at UAB.
“I was happy with our special teams play, now the word ‘consistency’ steps up for us,” coach Dana Dimel said. “I feel like this is a game where our special teams can make some big plays for us and create some issues in the game.”
There weren’t many opportunities for big plays last week, because a week after Duran Lowe has the fourth most return yards in UTEP history with 204, Charlotte avoided him, mostly hitting pooches the Miners fair-caught.
