UTEP lost contact with Southern Miss last week when the Miners had a punt blocked in the first quarter, the second blocked punt the Miners have had in the two years under Dana Dimel.
They also had a muffed punt in the opener against Houston Baptist, so eliminating special teams mistakes is a key for a team that has yet to have many opportunities in the return game.
