Charlotte at UTEP preview Bret Bloomquist, Wochit
As UTEP looks for an upset against Charlotte on Saturday in the Sun Bowl, the most obvious path would be to steal points in special teams.
In that regard, the Miners are coming off their most notable special teams game of the year, both for better and for worse, against North Texas.
On the plus side, they got their first non-offensive touchdown of the year when Duron Lowe returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown.
UTEP was in a hole by then because North Texas set up its opening touchdown by returning a kickoff to the Miner 33, then set up their second one by getting a fumble recovery on UTEP's first kickoff return.
