Emilio Rios Jr. had options out of Eastlake High School in 2018 after a runner-up finish in the high jump at the state track and field championships, but he didn't go far.
Rios came to UTEP to compete for a Miners team with athletes from all corners of the globe and has consistently been an all-conference performer. He enters his senior year looking to build on a career-best jump of 6-foot 10 1/4-inches.
Rios and most of his teammates will open the 2023 indoor season in two weeks in Lubbock.
