Perhaps, just perhaps, UTEP's Miners played with an angel on their shoulder Thursday night.
UAB, sitting second in Conference USA, dominated UTEP in the first half, taking a 28-19 lead. The Miners defended well but seemed mired in mud, unable to make a bucket.
But it was Jeep Jackson Night, a night when the Miners honored one of their greatest competitors, one of their greatest winners.
The emotion of the evening was raw and real.Jackson was honored at the half with a tribute on the video board and his family, including his parents Vivian and Mason Jackson, were introduced to a standing ovation.
