The Riverside baseball team doesn’t do a lot of sitting and watching.
At the plate the Rangers attack, on the mound their pitcher Orlando Samaniego throws strikes and the defense behind him makes plays.
In a District 1-4A title showdown with Clint on Friday afternoon, Samaniego, his defense and a clutch relief appearance from Diego Flores was enough to win a 4-1 pitcher’s duel.
Samaniego scattered five hits in 6 1/3 innings, and while Clint had some hard-hit balls, the Rangers tracked them down and in the process improved to 10-1 in 1-4A. Clint heads to the playoffs with a 9-2 district mark.
