The El Paso Coyotes indoor soccer team knew Thursday's first day of tryouts at the El Paso County Coliseum would be a significant milestone for the city's newest pro franchise.
What team officials didn't realize is how many people would be there to share it with them. More than 200 prospects, about double what was anticipated, showed up for what ended up being the first of two open days of tryouts.
"We were expecting a little more than 100; we got a little more than 200," said part owner and President Gil Cantu. "We are very, very happy with this outcome.
