AUSTIN — Grant Levesque finished one spot short of his podium dream, but the Rice sophomore and Coronado alum had way too much fun at his first NCAA Track and Field National Championships to feel regret.
Sitting sixth going into Thursday's final event, a 1,500 meters that is not one of Levesque's better events, he ran a personal best of 4 minutes, 49.65 seconds, which dropped him to ninth, one spot short of the top eight that get on the podium and given an award. Levesque finished with 7,739 points, 76 points behind eighth.
What could never disappoint Levesque was how he competed through the meet, and especially on the final day.
