The UTEP women's basketball team's 71-59 victory against UTSA on Sunday isn't one they will figuratively hang on the mantle.
It is, of course, one they will take.
The Miners blew much of a 23-point, second-half lead but never let the Roadrunners within a possession while finding a way past one of the bottom teams in Conference USA. On an afternoon where 50 fouls were called, UTEP made 27-of-33 free throws to keep a feisty UTSA team at bay.
UTEP improved to 12-6 overall and 4-3 in C-USA, UTSA fell to 4-14, 1-6 and for much of the afternoon the Miners win looked like it could be as easy as those records suggest.
