Making a college basketball team win the game from the 3-point arc at the end of a two-time zone road trip is generally a good plan for a home team.

With the UTEP men's basketball team, no matter where it plays, nothing that involves a 3-point line is likely to end well for them.

Charlotte took control against the Miners with five consecutive 3-pointers around the halftime break, turning a two-point deficit into a 10-point lead in the space of 3:16 in a 62-53 victory that moved UTEP's losing streak to five games.

After the 49ers' big flurry they were 13-of-22 from 3-point range and 1-of-2 from inside the arc, which added up to a 43-33 lead and put them on their way.
