And then the air seemed to fizzle out of the Miners.
Charlotte wiped away a seven-point halftime deficit and stuffed UTEP down the stretch to waltz away with an 88-78 Conference USA win Saturday night in Charlotte, N.C.
The loss was the second in as many tries for the Miners after a sizzling six-game winning streak and it leaves UTEP at 17-13 on the season and 9-8 in Conference USA play. Only one game remains before the C-USA Tournament ... a Saturday afternoon date with last place UTSA in the Don Haskins Center.
UTEP stumbled down the stretch in Thursday's loss at Old Dominion, a loss that doused water on the Miners' streak.
