Casting call for carries: UTEP sorts out running back position in post-Aaron Jones era

The question that topped all UTEP football to-do lists 12 months ago was obvious: How do the Miners replace their all-time leading rusher Aaron Jones, who was leaving for the NFL?

As for the answer that emerged, well, they still are looking for their first win in the post-Aaron Jones era. In other words, they didn’t find an answer.

UTEP probably needed a big dose of luck to replace an 1,800-yard rusher seamlessly, and that notion went out the window in the spring when the most likely candidate, Quardraiz Wadley, suffered an injury that cost him most of the 2017 season.
