A major storyline throughout this overachieving UTEP season has been Souley Boum's transformation from volume-scorer to all-around star.
That was on full display in UTEP's 80-54 victory against Western Illinois on Saturday that opened the Miners' run in The Basketball Classic.
Playing extensively at point guard in the absence of an ill Jamal Bieniemy, Boum finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a victory that was as routine as it was supposed to be. In the final minutes he chased the school's second-ever triple-double and got it on a Jamari Sibley 3-pointer with 37-seconds to play.
