The UTEP women's basketball team made some strides in defense Monday at Arizona, but the Miners turned the ball over too much and lost their eighth consecutive game 62-40.
The Miners (2-8) weren't supposed to keep it close against a 9-1 Arizona team that has now won eight consecutive games and trailed throughout after an early 2-2 tie. The Wildcats, though, were held to a season low in points.
UTEP trailed 15-4 early and stayed within 11 points for a quarter, but Arizona closed the first half on a 14-4 run to take a 38-17 lead to the intermission and coasted home.
