One year ago, on the eve of an improbable trip to the NCAA Championships, the question around UTEP javelin thrower Arianne Morais was how much better she'd be in a year when her twice-operated-on elbow had time to heal.
The answer: A lot better. The next question: How much better will she be in a year when she's even healthier?
That's exciting to ponder as Morais heads to Thursday's NCAA Championships in Austin after unleashing the best throw of anyone in the country at regionals last week, a personal best 189-feet. No one in the country was better last weekend and that throw stands as the seventh best in the NCAA this year.
