AUSTIN — The Americas softball team could have extended one of El Paso's greatest seasons if it had been perfect against San Antonio O'Connor on Friday in the Class 6A semifinals. That's often what winning at the semifinal level takes.
As it was, two errors and several defensive lapses that led to three unearned runs, a handful of close plays that went the wrong way and a good offensive O'Connor team added up to a 7-5 loss in a Class 6A semifinal that marked the first appearance by an El Paso team in the Final Four in 28 years.
