UTEP finds itself in an odd position heading into Saturday's game at Rice: They want to see all they can see of Rice's best player.
That would be Jack Fox, who is the reigning Ray Guy Award national punter of the week after a 76-yard punt against North Texas factored into his 47.3-yard average for the game. This season, he is averaging 45.7 yards, which is eighth nationally.
As a team, Rice leads Conference USA in punting and is second in kickoff returns and kickoff coverage. Special teams is what Rice is best at and in a toss-up game could be pivotal.
