2021 New Mexico Bowl: Beating Fresno State 'a big challenge' for UTEP Miners

Making history isn't supposed to be easy and the UTEP football team wouldn't want it to be.

When the Miners take on Fresno State in Saturday's PUBG Mobile New Mexico Bowl, UTEP will be an 11.5-point underdog, making the team the biggest long shot among the 84 teams playing in bowl games.

The game kicks off at 12:15 p.m. at University Stadium in Albuquerque and will be carried on ESPN. The contest marks the beginning of college football's holiday bowl season.

UTEP is attempting to make history and break a bowl drought that goes back to a Sun Bowl victory against Ole Miss in 1967 — at 54 years, no team in the Football Bowl Subdivision has gone longer without a bowl win.
