Hours after receiving his first FBS offer from UTEP, Ronald Awatt confirms that he has verbally committed to UTEP during his official visit Saturday tonight.
Awatt, 6'0 190 pounds, had a big senior year at Frienship High School this past season rushing for 2,045 yards with 16 touchdowns and was named District 2-6A's Offensive Player of the Year. He also earned honorable mention on the AP Class 6A All-State team.
He joins Frienship teammate Broderick Harrell in UTEP's class of 2016 that now has 17 high school commitments.
UTEP's interest in Awatt remained steady over the past few weeks, and the interest was thought to be as a preferred walk-on, but UTEP's staff pulled the offer trigger today securing a big day of additions.
