During the course of the 1965-66 national championship season, Texas Western guard Orsten Artis was one of the key reasons the Miners went 28-1 and beat Kentucky for the NCAA title.
He was the team's third-leading scorer with 12.6 points per game and shot 86.3 percent from the free throw line.
"It was a magical season," said Artis last month in El Paso when the team team was honored during the 50th Anniversary celebration. "We had a great chemistry and we had a lot of fun as a team. I have so many great memories from that season.
