SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah volleyball team dropped a Pac-12 Conference match, falling in straight sets (17-25, 15-25, 22-25) to the No. 1-ranked USC Trojans in a matinee match at the Huntsman Center on Sunday.
The loss dropped Utah to 7-10 overall and 1-5 in league play, while the Trojans remained perfect, improving to 18-0 on the season and 6-0 in the Pac-12.
Utah opened the match with four consecutive points, but the Trojans would later use runs of 5-1 and 7-0 to take a 17-10 lead. The Utes countered with a 6-2 run and USC head coach Mick Haley was forced to call a timeout with the Trojans lead down to just three points, 19-16.
