SALT LAKE CITY — It’s been a great year for BYU and Utah in college baseball.
The Cougars are just one game out of first place in the West Coast Conference, while the Utes rule the Pac 12 with two series remaining.
But one thing has eluded Utah this season: a win over their historic rival.
Until now.
The Utes’ defense held BYU to one run on eight hits for an 8-1 win to take their first win of the series Tuesday night at Smith’s Ballpark, earning Utah’s first win over an in-state opponent in 2016.
