Utah's J.J. Dielman out with season-ending 'lower leg' injury

SALT LAKE CITY — Senior offensive lineman J.J. Dielman is out for the season as a result of an injury sustained in Saturday’s Cal game, Utah athletics announced Monday.

Dielman, a former second-team All-Pac-12 tackle in 2015, sustained a “lower leg injury” in the first quarter Saturday, according to Utah. Dielman played in all games this season as the team’s starting center after Hiva Lutui was forced to end his playing career in the summer due to a knee injury.

Dielman is the third player on Utah’s roster to be out with a season-ending injury. Tight end Siale Fakailoatonga and defensive end Kylie Fitts were ruled out earlier in the season after sustaining injuries.
