SALT LAKE CITY -- The University of Utah has self-reported a violation to the NCAA involving the baseball program and recommended a multigame suspension for 15-year coach Bill Kinneberg.
Athletic director Chris Hill disclosed Monday that the school had reported the violation, though he didn't give details. Utah is awaiting a response from the NCAA.
The school hired a law firm to investigate the program after receiving a letter from a parent alleging several problems, some involving alcohol and drug abuse. The firm found no evidence of wrongdoing in the majority of those cases, including the drug-abuse accusation.
