Twitter got a little interesting today, as it was discovered that the 2008 Utah Football team, the Sugar Bowl team, was officially recognized via the NCAA as National Champs... kind of.
Josh Furlong dives into a lot of the logistics in his article on KSL, but in a nutshell the Utes can claim part of a title because of a system back then that had Utah ranked ahead of Florida in the final standings of the season. UCF, after being self-proclaimed champs, have a piece of a title themselves due to the fact one platform had them ahead of ‘Bama, and that may have brought a lot of this to the forefront.
