Utah’s thin backcourt for next season is getting a boost from a transfer from Long Beach State.
Rising senior Justin Bibbins, a 5-foot-8 guard from Carson, Calif., will join Utah and is expected to be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer. As a point guard, he’ll supplement a backcourt with only three returning scholarship players from last year.
Bibbins averaged 13.1 ppg as a junior this past season, making his second straight all-Big West team while leading the 49ers with 4.4 apg. He shot 37.5 percent from 3-point range and 88 percent from the free throw line.
