The freshman who set the batting pace for Utah’s lineup — and showed his speed running the bags — this past weekend has been honored by the Pac-12 for an outstanding series.
Outfielder DaShawn Keirsey with 7 for 15 for the weekend with seven RBI to wrap up the Pac-12 player of the week, helping usher the Utes to the outright Pac-12 championship in a 2-1 series win against Washington.
Keirsey got all seven of his hits in the two Utah wins, including a thrilling inside-the-park home run in Game 2 to help edge the Huskies 12-8.
