On Wednesday, students gathered in Marriott Plaza at the University of Utah for “Thank U Day.” The event was an opportunity for students to write thank you notes to those who donate to the Alumni Association at the U. The donations go to scholarships, new buildings and, according to the Alumni Association, toward keeping tuition low.
A large portion of academics at the U is subsidized by private donations. As a result, the U is one of the least expensive schools in the Pac-12 network and is considered among the cheapest public universities in terms of in-state tuition.
