TUCSON, Ariz. - Utah Softball got a ninth homer from Hannah Flippen and only allowed two hits, but went 1-for-14 with runners on base and dropped the opener at No. 18 Arizona, 3-1.
Miranda Viramontes (5-3) took the loss, despite striking out a career-high eight batters in just six innings, the only two hits she allowed were a homer and two-run single. Hailey Hilburn pitched a scoreless sixth inning in relief.
On the other side, Danielle O’Toole had a complete game and struck out four Utes as she improved to 12-5.
