SALT LAKE CITY — Everything was set in place.
The No. 12 Utes were at home for Senior Day. They were hosting Oregon, which has one of the league’s worst records. All Utah (8-3, 5-3 Pac-12) needed to do was beat Oregon (4-7, 2-6) and it had an outright chance for the South title next week at Colorado.
But as quick as the Utes dreamed of winning the division for the first time, it all slipped away.
Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert completed a 17-yard pass to Darren Carrington with two seconds remaining to give the Ducks the 30-28 win.
