SALT LAKE CITY — Utah erased a double-digit Arizona State lead in the first half to claim a 96-86 victory over the Sun Devils to open up Pac-12 play Thursday in Tempe, Arizona.
The Utes outscored the Sun Devils 57-43 in the second half behind the hot shooting of sophomore Donnie Tillman and senior Sedrick Barefield. Tillman opened up the second half with three 3-pointers to give Utah its first lead since it led 3-2 to start the game.
Senior Parker Van Dyke added two 3-pointers of his own to start the second half as Utah ran away with an upset win over an Arizona State program that was ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 a week before.
