QB situations remain unchanged for BYU, Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — Another football season is upon Utah and BYU, but not much has changed for both programs with regard to the quarterback situations.

The Cougars go into this year hoping Taysom Hill can avoid the serious injury that has sidelined him two of the last three seasons. And as mind-boggling as it seems, for the second consecutive season the backup quarterback likely will have never played in a major college game.

The Utes will begin their fifth campaign in the Pac-12 with Travis Wilson listed as the starter, but the coaching staff has assured Kendal Thompson that he will get ample opportunity to win the job during the three weeks of preseason practice.
