Poeltl named Pac-12 player of the week after strong outing in Puerto Rico

Ute center Jakob Poeltl earned his first Pac-12 player of the week honor on Monday after a big weekend at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off .

In Utah's first four games, the 7-foot center averaged 19.5 points on 64 percent shooting and 9.5 rebounds as the Utes won three of their first four.

Poeltl recorded a pair of double-doubles, the first a 15-point, 11-rebound effort in a victory over San Diego State. He just missed another double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds against Texas Tech in Utah's Puerto Rico opener, and added 16 points and six boards against eventual tourney champion Miami (Fla.
