RENO, Nev. — The second-ranked Utah gymnastics team excelled throughout the Elevate the Stage quad-meet. Unfortunately, low scores on beam were costly as it fell short of rival No. 4 UCLA.
After a lengthy and bizarre delay for final scores, UCLA finished with a 197.20, followed by Utah’s 196.975, Washington’s 195.725 and Stanford’s 195.35.
“We had some standout performances for this early in the season,” Utah co-head coach Tom Farden said.
Sophomore MyKayla Skinner lit up the competition floor, winning the all-around with a 39.70 score. She also won event titles on vault (9.95), bars (9.
