SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's tennis team (11-12, 1-6 Pac-12) finished out its regular season and sent out its seniors on a high note Saturday at Coach Mike's Tennis Academy as it defeated Arizona (8-18, 0-7 Pac-12) 4-2 for its first Pac-12 Conference win of the season.
Utah started the match with a solid effort in doubles action and took an early 1-0 lead. Senior Cedric Willems and junior Matt Cowley teamed up at the No. 1 spot to route Arizona's Shoki Kashara and David Mushayev, 6-2. The freshmen tandem of Santiago Sierra and Johan Jonhagen then followed with a 6-3 win over Matt Dunn and Jason Jaruvang at the third slot to clinch the doubles point for the Utes.
