LOS ANGELES - Utah sophomore Jakob Poeltl has been named a finalist for the 2016 John R. Wooden Award, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced on Saturday.
Selected by the Wooden Award National Advisory Board, Poeltl is one of 15 student-athletes who are candidates for the Wooden Award All-American Team and one shall receive the Wooden Award Trophy as the most outstanding college basketball player in the nation.
Poeltl, who is also a finalist for both the Oscar Robertson and Naismith National Player of the Year awards, ranks first in the Pac-12 and fourth in the nation in field goal percentage (.
