HOUSTON, Texas – Utah’s Jakob Poeltl has been selected as the 2016 Pete Newell Big Man of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the NABC announced on Thursday. Poeltl will receive his award at the AT&T NABC Guardians of the Game Awards Show on Sunday, April 3, at the Cullen Theater at Wortham Center in Houston.
Poeltl becomes the second player in school history to earn the honor, joining Andrew Bogut, who won the same award in 2005. Poeltl is just the second player in Pac-12 history to garner the accolade (Jason Collins, Stanford, 2001).
