SALT LAKE CITY — A handful of local baseball players were selected Tuesday during the 2017 Major League Baseball first-year player draft, beginning with arguably the top prep player in the state.
Lone Peak pitcher Seth Corry was selected in the third round by the San Francisco Giants at No. 96 overall. The Knights southpaw was the Gatorade Utah baseball player of the year and Deseret News Mr. Baseball in 2017, when he helped Lone Peak to a 24-7 record and Class 5A state runner-up finish.
The No. 1 ace on the Knights’ roster and one of the top pitchers in the state, Corry posted an 8-0 record with a 2.
