Kyle Whittingham signs contract extension through 2021 with Utah football program

The face of the Utah Utes will be sticking around a little while longer.

Kyle Whiitingham, who is 104-50 in 12 years as Utah’s head football coach, signed a contract extension that will keep him at the school through the 2021 season, the university announced on Twitter Friday afternoon.

The 2008 National Coach of the Year, with a 10-1 bowl record, was already signed for the next four years, so this is essentially a restructured one-year extension.

Whittingham came to Utah in 1994 and was promoted to head coach on December 8, 2004, succeeding Urban Meyer.
