Utah is a win away from going to New York City for the NIT final four, but in their way is a very good Saint Mary’s squad out of the WCC. Saint Mary’s was the 2nd best team out of the WCC this past season, losing in the conference semi-finals to BYU, thus eliminating them from NCAA tournament contention, for the traditionally one bid league. It’s pretty rough when you almost win 30 games and get left out of the tournament, but Saint Mary’s has been pretty notorious for poor schedules, and the weak WCC (outside of Gonzaga) doesn’t do them any favors.
