SAN FRANCISCO — Defensive back Dominique Hatfield will not play in Utah's bowl game Wednesday.
The senior captain traveled with the team to San Francisco for the Foster Farms Bowl, according to head coach Kyle Whittingham, but will not be playing in the game for a violation of team rules. The exact reason for his absence, however, was not made immediately known, but Whittingham said last week that it was not a legal issue.
Although it would have been Hatfield’s final game at Utah, Whittingham emphasized that the team has rules and that there are “certain expectations and certain standards” players are asked to obey.
