SALT LAKE CITY — Two seconds.
That’s all it took for Darren Carrington II to break the hearts of Utah football fans and silence a crowd of 46,327 at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
In November 2016, Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert connected with the then Oregon wide receiver for a 17-yard touchdown pass as the clock expired. Carrington was initially ruled out-of-bounds but the call was reversed after a replay showed he had a foot in-bounds. The score gave the Ducks a 30-28 upset over the Utes, who were playing for a chance to win the South title.
Carrington had multiple run-ins with the law, including a DUI offense, which led to his dismissal from Oregon this past summer.
