HOUSTON - The Utah baseball team dropped a 10-inning heartbreaker, 2-1, to open a four-game series against Houston Baptist on Friday afternoon.
HBU scored the game-winning run on a throwing error on a bunt.
Utah pitcher Jayson Rose dueled with Houston Baptist pitcher Addison Russ for most of the game, with each pitcher allowing one run and five hits. Rose pitched seven innings, striking out nine while walking just one. Dylan Drachler, who entered in the eighth inning, earned the loss.
Both teams scored early, with Utah pushing a run across in the first and Houston Baptist countering with a run in the third.
